The wildlife rehabilitation system is at a breaking point. For decades, it has relied heavily on volunteers, many of whom are now burnt out, leaving behind a fragmented and increasingly unsustainable network of care.

Across six major rehabilitation facilities and a network of smaller dedicated rehabilitation groups, more than 21,000 animals are rehabilitated each year in Western Australia, yet there is still no dedicated government funding to support their treatment and recovery. Without urgent change, the system risks collapse, putting thousands of vulnerable native animals at risk.

OUR PURPOSE

To represent and empower WA’s wildlife rehabilitation sector by advocating for better policies, providing sector-wide coordination and supporting best practices in animal care, education and emergency response.
